ElevenEs
ElevenEs is a producer of long-lasting, safe, affordable, and widely applicable lithium-ion battery cells based on LFP technology.
ElevenEs is a developmental industrial investment by Al Pack Group, an international leader in aluminum processing with over 30 years of experience and knowledge in high-precision processing – which includes processes closely related to the production of electrodes that form the active part of LFP batteries. This expertise has enabled ElevenEs to become a pioneer in the production of LFP battery cells in Europe. The international ElevenEs team consists of professionals from, currently, 15 countries, with over 90 employees and associates, many of whom have experience from global companies such as BYD, SVOLT, Volvo, Renault, EIT InnoEnergy, Lazard, Mubadala, and others.
Our mission is a clean future accessible to everyone, while our vision is to produce safe and sustainable batteries, making the energy transition available to all.
ElevenEs is recognized and supported by EIT InnoEnergy, one of the most active global investors in sustainable energy. InnoEnergy was launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), an independent body of the European Union established in 2008 with the aim of driving and supporting innovation across Europe.
The company began operations by forming a laboratory and research and development center, both of which have been operational since June 2021. After the completion and commissioning of pilot production in mid-2023, the construction of the first Mega factory with a capacity of approximately 1000 MWh (1 GWh) is planned for 2026, followed by the first phase of a Giga factory with an annual production capacity of 8 GWh, starting in 2028. For example, one battery cell has approximately 0.5 kWh, meaning that the Giga factory, with its planned 8 GWh in the first phase, will produce 16 million battery cells annually, which is enough battery cells for 123,000 electric cars per year.
What is EDGE?
EDGE is the longest battery on the European market, with the lowest cost per cycle, produced by ElevenEs.
Why LFP?
EDGE batteries, made with LFP technology, are ideal for use in lower and mid-range electric vehicles due to their key characteristics, enabling a more widespread transition to this mode of transport. They also play a significant role in the electrification of public transport and industrial transport, as well as the increasingly prevalent need for electrical energy storage and grid stabilization. A good indicator of this trend is the fact that leading automotive companies such as Tesla, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, and others have already announced a partial transition to LFP technology.
Key Advantages of EDGE Batteries
LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries are an optimal choice for applications requiring long lifespan cells, high safety, sustainability, and affordability. The chemical stability of the elements from which they are produced increases their safety. Such batteries are more durable, lasting up to twice as long as competing technologies, which is supported by 5,000 tested charge and discharge cycles.
Finally, the most significant improvement in LFP technology comes with smart battery pack design. The unique Cell-to-Pack (CTP) solution and the long cell format have resolved the issue of energy density, giving these batteries a comparative advantage in the market. Thus, with its choice of chemistry and packaging method, the EDGE battery is a more affordable solution on the market, and with its longevity, a more sustainable one.
Sustainability
Through their more affordable price, longer lifespan, reduced need for new batteries, and reduced use of lithium, as well as the complete elimination of nickel and cobalt from use, LFP and EDGE batteries make a significant contribution to global sustainability and the green agenda.
For example, when LFP batteries reach 50% market share, an annual saving of 460,000 tons of nickel (which is the annual production of the world’s two largest refineries), 97,000 tons of cobalt (which is 70% of global production in 2020), and 9,000 tons of lithium (enough to make 1.5 million urban electric vehicles powered by LFP batteries) will be achieved.
